I’m going to start a series called #AdsThatClicked where, every week, I decode and discuss why I think certain ads worked.

Today I will be decoding:

Google Ads: Interested Khariddar Laaye Har Baar

Even though this ad came out a year ago, it’s still being played and stays with me.

Here is what worked and didn’t work for me:

✅ Simple & Aspirational Story: The story is about an entrepreneur spotting a customer in need of her product, displaying an ad to the customer at exactly the time of need and hence bagging a sale. This is basically every entrepreneur’s dream, and guess what enables this dream to come true?

✅ Funny Parallel: The ad makes a funny parallel between a romantic connection and a customer-seller connection. It uses the romantic song, “Humne Tumko Dekha” to show how Google Ads helps entrepreneurs find their “customer soulmate”.

✅ Use of a Bollywood Song: The song is catchy. It lives in my head rent free and reminds me of the existence of Google Ads.

✅ Highlights New Feature in Each Ad: Each ad highlights a different Google Ad feature. This one features “website sales” whereas another one highlights “sign-ups” and so on.

❌ Unclear Portrayal of How Google Ads Works: The ad shows the customer noticing the entrepreneur’s existence even before he searches “window curtains” on google, when in reality, he would only find the business AFTER his google search.

What did you think of the ad? What worked for you and what didn’t? I would love to know your thoughts.
